Providing Compassionate Integrative Psychotherapy to Teens and Adults
We are each complex beings made up of many integral parts. My focus is to help you find wellness and strive towards inner peace and wholeness in the way that works best for you. Integrative psychotherapy is a holistic treatment approach that combines elements from different schools of psychotherapy to address a client's specific needs. It's not limited to a single school of thought or treatment method, but instead draws therapeutic tools from a wide array of approaches, including:
Depth Psychotherapy - Rooted in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic therapy styles, depth psychotherapy focuses on helping you become aware of and work through unconscious conflicts and experiences that affect your behavior and relationships. This can allow you to better understand your challenges and recognize things that hold you back, explore their significance, and integrate them into your awareness.
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)- Combines cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with meditation and mindfulness to help you to recognize your patterns and step out of old ways of doing things. The core aim of MBCT is to increase mindfulness, allow for acceptance of thoughts and feelings without judgment, and to help you focus fully on the present moment.
Emotionally Focused Therapy - Focuses on emotions with the goal of expanding your understanding of yourself. Based on attachment theory and the science of emotions, and it can help you identify and change negative patterns.
Your integrative psychotherapy experience is a collaborative process between us, and is unique to you. Your work will be tailored to best fit your individual needs, personality and goals for your life.
A special note to Parents:
Evidence shows that the more a parent is in balance and takes care of themselves, the better our children do as well. Modeling self care and working towards your own well being is one of the best things you can do as a parent, both for your children's sense of self as well as your own. Parents are perpetually in the caregiving role and integrative psychotherapy can be especially helpful as a support amidst the ever changing terrain of parenthood.
About Me
My approach is client-centered, collaborative, and evidence-based. I have been working with people seeking help with wellness and finding balance in their lives for over 25 years, first as a holistic primary care provider beginning in 1998, and now as a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist.
In my experience as a healthcare provider, I have worked with many individuals and families experiencing various struggles. Over the years, I have been struck by the often unacknowledged emotional challenges underneath physical suffering. Recognizing the depth and influence of the emotional realm and its complex integration with physical and spiritual health is what inspired me to begin the process of becoming a psychotherapist.
Utilizing the realm of talk therapy, I currently assist clients in finding internal harmony and a greater sense of wellbeing through the deep and important work of integrative psychotherapy. As we get to know each other and what might work best for you, your therapy experience can be tailored to best fit your needs, personality and goals for your life. I seek to help you find wellness and strive towards inner peace and wholeness.
